SUMMARY:Enviro Literacy Program/Erosion Mitigation Project ~ April 12 & 13\, 2025
DESCRIPTION:CCC is helping to provide labor for an environmental literacy Capstone Project designed by two Broadneck HS students. Runoff is currently undermining the sailing shack at Lake Claire Beach (aka “Little Beach”)\, located at the end of Latrobe Dr.\, here in the Cape. The students have organized a small restoration project to slow runoff and stabilize the shack by bringing in topsoil and planting native grasses. Volunteers will be moving dirt and planting grasses. Bring your own work gloves. If you have a shovel\, even better! DESCRIPTION:CCC is continually working to improve and maintain two public areas in Cape St. Claire for the enjoyment of all – Serene Ravine (across from 1037 Lake Claire Dr.)\, Little Magothy Beach Park and Woodland Trail (1110 Little Magothy View)\, and the Deep Creek Piers parking lot (end of Gateway Dr.) This is ongoing work. \nCCC’s Conservation Crew\, aka Wednesday Weed Warriors\, removes invasive plants weekly at the properties\, from early April through mid-October. When appropriate for the season\, native plants are also added to the properties. This is a great opportunity for student volunteer hours!
