Creating Your Own “Habitat Hero” Landscape
June 14, 2026Cape Conservation Corps (CCC) has restored the path from Blue Ridge Place to the Cape St Claire Swim Club (CSCSC). The path is now re-opened; not only re-opened, but also restored so it is now safe to walk on, for kids and adults alike!
The process started several years ago, with the Town Manager asking Cape Conservation Corps (CCC) if we could help with restoring this path. Storm water run-off had deeply eroded the path over the years. During the past year, CSCSC worked with Cape St Claire Improvement Association (CSCIA) and the County Department of Public Works to address the water flow issue that was damaging the path in the first place. A new storm drain was installed on Blue Ridge Place, and it has resolved the vast majority of run-off, which made a restoration effort much more practical and sustainable.
Then, CCC decided to use our own funds to pay for a contractor to do the heavy lifting of restoring the path. The contractor added fill dirt to fill the heavily eroded areas, placed landscape fabric under a drain, and topped the entire path with small stones. Here are some “before” and “after” pictures of this path. Enjoy the path when you’re on your way to the pool!
