There were once enough oysters to clean & filter the entire Chesapeake Bay and its rivers every 3 or 4 days. Although oysters are now at historically low populations, we have seen some progress.
MAGOTHY RIVER ASSOCIATION has long been committed to restoring their population, through monitoring, reef ball planting, oyster nurseries, Marylanders Grow Oysters and large-scale oyster spat deliveries.
YOUR HELP IS BADLY NEEDED.
If you have access to a pier on the Magothy, you can participate in growing oysters at home. This rewarding, no cost program is available each year. All materials are provided but this year’s deadline for signing up is June 30th. Email Brad Knopf at [email protected]
